Mere weeks after celebrating its 35th anniversary, Antone’s has partnered with Emo’s owner Frank Hendrix. Contrary to my previous report, Susan Antone will remain a part owner of the venue, while Hendrix will handle daily operations and assist with booking duties.

It seems like an unlikely pairing: Red River’s alt-rock kingpin and Austin’s hallowed home of the blues. Yet, the Fifth Street venue has struggled since the May 2006 passing of blues godfather Clifford Antone, who founded the club in 1975, and both ventures currently utilize the booking talents of Austin’s C3 Presents.
