“I was born and raised on Austin residencies,” attests Warren Hood. “When I was 5, my dad started a residency at Threadgill’s with Jimmie Dale Gilmore, so every Wednesday for about 15 years – before I was even playing music – I’d go to my dad’s gig.” The fiddler-songwriter’s “All Good in the Hood Happy Hour” at ABGB is the South Austin beerhall’s first weekly, and continuation of a family tradition begun by his late father, Champ Hood. Two-steppers, pints, and pizzas fuel a broad sweep of Americana guesting the likes of Emily Gimble. “It’s bigger than the music, it’s bigger than the venue,” posits Hood. “It’s something that people talk about long after it’s gone.”
