Applications to join the Texas Touring Roster, which provides statewide nonprofits a list of artists willing to perform at organization events, are open now until Jan. 31.

The Texas Touring Arts Program acts as a marketing opportunity for Lone Star musicians and performing arts companies willing to provide entertainment at your favorite nonprofit’s next big meeting or event. Through grants, the Texas Commission on the Arts helps nonprofits pay those on the roster for performances.

Artists involved in dance, music, theatre, musical theatre, creative writing, storytelling, visual art, and film/animation are eligible to apply for the touring list. In order to count as a “performing” act, applicants must offer an event that is “performative or interactive/collaborative,” per the program’s Frequently Asked Questions page – like preparing a demonstration/talk or following a film screening with a Q&A. Artists must be willing to travel outside of their community for performances and maintain a “reasonable fee range.”

The application involves submitting a four-minutes-or-less audiovisual sample of your artistic work, as well as past contracts supporting your touring history. Online training on grant processes will follow for those selected to join the roster.

Want to perfect your application? The Texas Commission on the Arts will host an online information session Thurs., Jan. 18 at 11am.
