Compared to their performance-artsy live shows, Technicolor Heart’s second EP comes a little light on the pixie dust. The dyad of vocalist/violist Naomi Cherie and synther/guitarist Joseph Salazar’s spacious dream-pop arrives lean on profound content – dishing elementary refrains like “Be not afraid of who you are, be not afraid cuz you’re a shooting star” and cribbing “Blowin’ in the Wind” for their own “Would You Come Back to Me?” Cherie’s breathy temptress vox rely on character, not beauty, and occasionally succeed, as on the densely produced “I Dreamed You Brought Me Flowers.” Otherwise they’re striving for space but getting lost in the clouds.
