Recovered for the better part of a decade, Dodd returns with Random As I Am, his seventh disc, which retains traces of his Music City experience. Dodd offers proof that smooth, well-crafted songs, whether rock-edged like “Somethin Aint Always Better Than Nothin” or warm-blooded ballads like “Anybody Out There,” will never lose their pull.
