Harold Ambler
Carousel (Big Day) Recent Austin transplant Harold Ambler’s debut EP at age 43 is a soothing set of wizened missives drawing from a life of laid-back vagary. In light folk-pop tones, Ambler’s songs are affirmations even at their darkest (the moaning hum of opener “Carousel” and cello-backed “Crucial”). “Take This Sadness” is a rolling campfire clapper, but the back-side likes of “Mr. Wave Man” lull less effectively.
