Mercy (Kirtland)

LAMF, Taz Bentley will bang out a five-minute drum solo in a 10-minute set. The Burden Brothers thrive on this idea of stadium rock; it defined debut Buried in Your Black Heart, and it’s taken up a notch on Mercy. Slick shredding (“Shine,” “She’s Not Home”), Zippo-friendly piano (“Life Between”), and classic-rock single “Everybody Is Easy (We Sink/We Swim)” match Bentley, and the one-two punch of “I Am a Cancer” and “Daughter of Science” recalls Todd Lewis’ golden Toadies years. (Nov. 4, Stubb’s) **.5
