Memorial Daze

Starting Thursday night, TCB’s Memorial Day weekend was a blur of booze and bands. Some hazily reconstructed remembrances:

ELEVATED LINES: Sad-eyed lady of the lowlands Carrie Clark‘s new countryish duo; achingly perfect cover of Beck‘s “Lost Cause.”

SALLY CREWE & THE SUDDEN MOVES: After a seated Britt Daniel, biting popcraft in matching Reservoir Dogs outfits.

THE ENDS: Beerland’s nominal house band back with a vengeance.

RITCHIE WHITES: Terminally underappreciated locals exit stage left with blasts of punk energy and plenty of dancing up front.

SONS OF HERCULES: Never “Too Late” for the San Antonio standbys, tougher than leather and tighter than ever.

MELT BANANA: Buckets of rain can’t dampen this Japanese trio’s crackling noisecore.

BILL DAVIS: End-of-the-night laments make successful transition to daylight, and “Yoshimi” lives to fight another day.

SECRET WEAPONS: Yeah, oh yeah: Club de Ville washout rescued by Trophy’s and triumphant version of Joan Jett‘s “Do You Wanna Touch Me.”
