As reported by Chronicle-r Andy Langer in The Dallas Morning News, the Polyphonic Spree inadvertently shut down five gates at DFW International Airport last week when security officials mistook percussionist Brian Teasley‘s microphone for a pipe bomb. Teasley convinced FBI agents he wasn’t a terrorist with a clip of the ensemble performing on CBS’ Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn. “Thank God for TiVo,” he mused.

An all-Ramones set from Austin’s Krumbums kicks off Saturday’s Rock ‘n’ Roll High School assembly at the Alamo Drafthouse downtown. Come enjoy “Good cafeteria food lunch-line style” and/or compete in the pizza-eating, milk-chugging, and Joey Ramone look-alike contests. Proceeds benefit Austin Voices for Education and Youth.
