Rhye

Woman (Loma Vista)

Rhye makes brave music. It takes guts to be this open, the L.A. duo paneling its debut album with grayscale close-ups of unabashed sexuality. Toronto-born Mike Milosh unravels a feathery, helium croon. Sometimes you need to sing like a girl to get a point across, and Milosh’s point is deliberate: Woman celebrates the fundamentals of sexuality. “I’m a fool for the shake in your thighs,” he sighs in muggy quietude. “The Fall” could’ve fit in a Pure Moods comp, all misty piano and dewy strings. “Oh make love to me,” he begins. Woman might make you uncomfortable, overpowered by its honesty, but it’s always truthful. From Bowie to Prince and Diana Ross, there’s no parody here. (11pm, Buffalo Billiards)
