Luke Winslow-King’s fifth effort and third for Chicago’s alt.country indie Bloodshot, I’m Glad Trouble Don’t Always Last finds him dealing with a failing marriage while on tour in Europe. Named New Orleans’ Best Blues Artist by Gambit Magazine in 2015 and a primo guitarist, LWK doesn’t shy away from biting into his heartbreak with gusto, even if his mild-mannered tenor betrays some of his music’s much-needed grit. The fast-flying boogie of “Act Like You Love Me” and the imploring, countryish “Change Your Mind” demonstrate a wide range of songwriting worthy of comparison to Jason Isbell and John Fullbright.
