Out on a Wednesday evening and looking for a tavern to spend your hard-earned money such that it will actually go towards something more productive than just a headache in the morning? May we suggest you stop off at any of these 24 listed locations.
That’s because Chad and Brad Womack, the brothers who own all those bars on Sixth Street (and, yes, the fraternal duo that spouted out the 2011 Bachelor), have organized a citywide cull of tonight’s bar proceeds getting redirected to the American Red Cross efforts in Moore, Okla., and the tornado-torn town’s surrounding areas.
Chad told the Chronicle this afternoon that 30% of all proceeds, plus “the bands’ pay; they’re all donating their time,” will get packaged up into a “To You, Moore” package to help with recovery efforts.
The full list of participating venues runs below. Not that many of the bars included do much in the way of new, original music, but there are a few highlights. Among them, jazz trio Black Red Black smoothes out at South Lamar’s One-2-One Bar, Houston songwriter Amanda Cevallos plays the Rattle Inn, and Dana Falconberry hits ACL Live’s porch-bound Wine Down, 5-7pm.
Rare is the occasion in which Austin steps up to help out Oklahoma. Now’s as good a time as ever.
