(Nettwerk) Another alt.Christmas, this one a Toys for Tots fundraiser revisiting Jimmy Eat World’s serious emo days for “12/23/95” and allowing Vanessa Carlton to work her inner Tori Amos on “Greensleeves.” Bright Eyes’ “Blue Christmas” is probably the best of the bunch, Ben Folds’ “Bizarre Christmas Incident” the funniest, and the irony prize goes to Sense Field’s straight-up reading of “Happy Christmas (War Is Over).” If only.
