Carly Simon Christmas Is Almost Here (Rhino)

On her first Christmas album, Carly Simon has tried something a bit different. It’s an all-star affair, produced by Don Was, featuring Willie Nelson (on “Pretty Paper”), Heartbreaker Benmont Tench, drummer Jim Keltner, and even Billy Preston on one track. Recorded almost exclusively live in a hotel room in L.A., Christmas Is Almost Here has some rough edges, but that might be a relief for those tired of the same old thing.
