Sacred Steel for the Holidays (Arhoolie) The lap steel guitar has a wonderfully evocative sound when it’s in the right hands. The Campbells are quite good at what they do with theirs, but they fall down a few times straying into squealy jam-band territory. Singer Denise Brown gets a little carried away with the R&B at times. Still, this is a departure from the typical holiday fare, even if it wears a little thin in places.
