Mark Rubin Presents Hill Country Hannukah

Hill Country Hannukah begins with Mark Rubin’s Rubinchik’s Yiddish Ensemble playing a medley of klezmer music ranging from the hypnotic “Doina” to the lively “Oi, Tate!” Cantor Neil Blumofe steps in to deliver a genre-bending swing-style vocal on “Maoz Tzur (Rock of Ages),” while the Congregation Agudas Achim Choir adds power and depth to “Heimesher Bulgar” and “Ma Yofus.” Though Chanukah has already come and gone, this whirlwind tour of Jewish music in Austin is a fun ride regardless of season.
