Slaid Cleaves

Holiday Sampler (Philo) This five-song EP is a little treat to tide Slaid Cleaves fans over until he can record a new album. It’s not a Christmas record per se; each song is loosely related to the holidays and their corresponding months, starting with Halloween. The re-recording of “One Good Year,” now with a trumpet solo, is intriguingly different, and Cleaves’ take on “You’re Mean One, Mr. Grinch” is suitably playful.
