The SIMS Foundation, a local nonprofit organization providing low-cost counseling, addiction recovery, and other mental-health services for Austin musicians, introduces its Office Tune Ups series, a fundraising initiative involving private concerts for local businesses. Among the bands donating their time for the custom shows, which take place until December for audiences ranging from 10 to 100 people, are the Gourds, Mother Truckers, Wendy Colonna, Guy Forsyth, Adam Sultan, Randy Weeks, Ramsay Midwood, Scott H. Biram, Viva Trio, and Pong. Artist Autumn de Wilde, meanwhile, is donating a portion of the proceeds from her new book, Elliot Smith, a collection of rare photographs, handwritten lyrics, and conversations with musicians, to the Austin institution and Portland, Ore.’s Outside In. The work comes complete with an exclusive five-song live disc recorded at various shows around Los Angeles in 1997.
