TisaKorean

Friday 8, 21st Street Co-op

TisaKorean gives a different meaning to silly, or as he enunciates the word, sill-eeeeee. The Houston rapper/producer’s distinct penchant for unleashing terabytes of varied flows over mid-Aughts production harkens back to the days of Motorola Razrs and browsing MySpace. He headlines a bill in West Campus that’ll also feature a water balloon fight and slip & slide.

Rome Streetz

Friday 8, Antone’s

Rome Streetz collaborated with fellow Griselda affiliate Boldy James for their quick-hitting EP, Manhunt, to start off the year. “Pray for the Weak,” a cut from the Queens-cultured rhymer’s 2021 tape with Ransom, showcases his lyricism: “Mommy told me, ‘Shine, your melanin is worth more than gold’/ The game sick, this is medicine in the form of flows.”

MIKA

Sunday 10, ACL Live at the Moody Theater

London-raised singer-songwriter MIKA first made noise with his 2007 debut Life in Cartoon Motion, a project bursting with luminous color out of its seams. That project’s lead single, “Grace Kelly,” turns the criticism of a dismissive record label executive into a satirical yet defiant track. January release Hyperlove, his first English-language project since 2019, features mellow electropop.
