Before the Music Dies

Bless Before the Music Dies‘ little heart. What true music lover hasn’t despaired that Ashlee Simpson outsells Shelby Lynne 10-to-1, or when the same Fergie song comes on their local Clear Channel station thrice in 90 minutes? Anyone with a broadband connection and an iPod, that’s who. B4MD‘s overall logic never quite clicks, like positing Doyle Bramhall II as a music-biz casualty without mentioning he’s Eric Clapton’s and Roger Waters’ touring lead guitarist. The 90-minute doc is redeemed somewhat by Austinites Guy Forsyth and Blaze jamming and fruit loop Erykah Badu’s advice to wannabe starlets: “Do that ho shit.”
