Live in Houston 1981, The Escape Tour (Sony)

Scan the immense stadium crowd, and it’s all muscle T’s, mullets, and fists in the air. It was a good time for Journey. This Houston show was filmed on the heels of their No. 1 album Escape by a fledgling channel called MTV (they once showed music videos). Steve Perry belts out the hits with zeal, feathered hair bouncing along to “Don’t Stop Believin'” and “Anyway You Want It.” Ballads like “Open Arms” and “Lights” get the lighters going, and this comes with a live CD, for when the party really gets going.
