White Denim has another sea change in store for Fits, the follow-up to the local trios ecstatic debut, Exposion. Eighty percent of the record is a pretty heavy classic rock sound, James Petralli told OTR before SXSW. Theres also early Seventies Funkadelic feel. The Funkadelics Maggot Brain and the Pretty Things S.F. Sorrow were sounds that we were chasing.
You can definitely feel those vibes rippling through this first cut, Mirrored and Reverse. While there are no official plans yet for a stateside release, Fits drops through Full Time Hobby in the UK in June. If you havent already, be sure to check out White Denims medley of All You Really Have to Do and Mess Your Hair Up from Nigel Godrichs From the Basement series here. Its actually my favorite recording of theirs to date as it perfectly captures the energy and exuberance of White Denims stage presence.
