After valiant efforts by music editor Kevin Curtin to deliver last year’s Austin Music Awards in his van, the annual event returns in-person to Emo’s on March 8.
The Chronicle music team is excited to announce the lineup of the 40th Annual Austin Music Awards, created in collaboration with longtime local booker Paul Minor. Austin artists Money Chicha, Greyhounds, Carolyn Wonderland, Deezie Brown, Sir Woman, and We Don’t Ride Llamas will perform with a number of special guests including Gina Chavez and Kiko Villamizar.
Tickets are on sale now for $25, with proceeds benefiting the SIMS Foundation. See the full lineup below.

Alongside the present of Austin music, the show also honors legends lost in the past two years. Musicians Beth Chrisman, Corey Baum, Jake Penrod, Speedy Sparks offer a tribute to late country troubadour James Hand, while Little Mazarn tributes esteemed folk and country song-crafter Nanci Griffith.
New to the Austin Music Awards are this year’s emcees, KUTX radio host Taylor Wallace and Austin comedian Avery Moore. The show, kicking off at 7:55pm sharp, is presented by the Society for the Preservation of Texas Music, The Austin Chronicle, and Capital Metro. As always, music industry winners will be honored at the Austin Music Industry Awards, a private ceremony taking place in February.
