Iron Maiden
En Vivo! (Universal)The so-called New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) betrays its ever-widening tree rings by preserving every latter tour with a live souvenir, especially when South American locales such as Chile greet godfathers Iron Maiden like ancient sun gods. Disc one finally catches fire on “The Talisman,” from 2010 rally The Final Frontier, then rides trademark uni-leads and a march-time beat on nine-minute “Dance of Death,” a riff off ye olde “Hallowed Be Thy Name” on disc two – rife with well-worn Maiden standards (“The Evil That Men Do”). Should’ve been trifolded with the DVD. (Maiden rides into San Antonio’s AT&T Center Wednesday, Aug. 15.) ![]()
