Easily their most energetic project, Animal Collective’s intently trying to get you where you’re going on the bouncy Painting With. So much so, in fact, that they premiered the album as a loop at Baltimore’s major airport. On “FloriDada,” the band sings in coastal pastels, swirling synths wrapping the lyrics. The Talking Heads-like “Bagels in Kiev” sprawls, vocals competing and entangled, but then the spotty, EDM-ish “Natural Selection” drags down everything around it. Full of punch, the album still never quite reaches its destination. (Sat., 11:30pm, Reverberation stage)
