Now that hes not running the gubernatorial race and instead going for Agricultural Commissioner, Kinky Friedman has hit the road. Tonight, 6pm at Antones, Kinky is performing songs, telling stories, and reading from his book Heroes of a Texas Childhood.
Kinky is a mighty entertaining fellow whatever he chooses, whether onstage singing songs that made him famous (Homo Erectus) or in his private life, selling salsa to support his Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch, but this offbeat triad of stories, songs, and prose is a rare offering.
I want a chance to talk to the people of Texas, share some of my childhood heroes, and sing some songs, Friedman explained. I think the people of Texas appreciate a guy who rides, shoots straight, and tells the truth. Thats the kind of guy I am.
Thats the kind of guy we like.
