The Hague Rock City
At November’s Crossing Border music fest in the Hague, the number of Dutch bands fully embracing rock & roll almost matched the imported talent. Crossing into Texas territory this SXSW, six bands from the city of peace and justice give maximum R ‘n’ R: Woot (Wed., 9pm, Scoot Inn), John Dear Mowing Club (Thu., 11pm, the Hideout), So What (Thu., 1am, B.D. Declaring Postcards to Your Bed “Japanese punk jazz,” this New Zealand-based, Japanese-born multi-instrumentalist charms even when shouting, “Piss Off (Such a Loser!).”
Anita Tijoux (Thu., 12mid, Flamingo Cantina)
On 1977, French-Chilean MC Anita Tijoux raps circles around most rhymesayers.

Taiwanese disco punk outfit fronted by three ladies with a soft spot for neon.
