50 Cent probably wasn’t getting picked last in high school gym class, but he might still have to ride the bench these days. The MC also known as Curtis Jackson threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Mets-Pirates game last Tuesday, and while we don’t expect celebrities to practice their pitching, his throw might go down as one of the worst in baseball.
The announcers described it as “juuuuuust a bit outside,” which was uncharacteristically sweet.
We’ll doctor some of your words for this one, 50: Hate it or love it, the underdog is not always on top. I don’t know if there’s a category that extends past wild pitch, but this is it. Still, he flashes that mega-watt smile afterward and all’s right with the world.
Plus, he had such a great sense of humor about it. Fiddy posted the video to his Instagram account with the caption, “I’m a hustler not a Damn ball player. LMAO.”
This proves it. Still, there are a few musicians that bridge the gap between hustling/playing music and putting fire in the hole – or, at least pitching with finesse. We present video in case you’re scouting your next celebrity all-star game.
Snoop Dogg
No, there’s not much heat behind it, but I have a feeling that most things are a little slower moving for Snoop D-O-Double G. The pitch was right into the glove, pretty much. And anyone who starts their time on the mound with peace signs and Tebows off of the field is someone I want in my corner.
Lil’ Jon
It may have taken a long arc to get there, but Lil’ Jon is a hype man, you know? The Atlanta rapper can get a crowd going. Plus, I don’t think I would ever get tired of hearing, “WHAT? OK” after a bad call.
Mariah Carey
Carey took the Giants thing seriously, sporting towering heels with her daisy dukes, and, mind you, absolutely no Giants gear. Her pitch, as expected for someone defying the laws of gravity, was awful. We’ll keep her around for a permanently stellar national anthem.
Tré Cool
Alright, so the pitch wasn’t that great, but the Green Day drummer’s wind-up?! Hats off, sir. I feel like that could possibly distract a batter into swinging for watermelons.
