All-Star Bluegrass Celebration

(Sugar Hill)

Originally a PBS special, All-Star Bluegrass Celebration burned at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in 2002. Old timers like Earl Scruggs and Ralph Stanley, contemporary bluegrass stars (Del McCoury Band, Alison Krauss, Nickel Creek), and some of country music’s best (Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, Travis Tritt) all come off filled with energy and electricity. Stanley/Loveless duet “Pretty Polly” is particularly potent. Extras include backstage time with the performers and biographies of Bill Monroe, Stanley, and Scruggs, with archival film footage.
