Dead Boys

Live! at CBGB 1977 (MVD)

The Dead Boys brought New York punk rock from Cleveland in the mid-Seventies, but there are few recordings of the destruction that ensued. Shot in 1977 at CBGB’s, Rod Swenson’s film captures Stiv Bator’s reckless abandon onstage. Regardless of low-tech recording – including several minutes of blackout – Dead Boys: Live! at CBGB remains an important chapter in misfit rock. Bonuses include interviews with guitarist Cheetah Chrome and manager Hilly Kristal.
