Outer Heaven Disco Club will soon unfurl its wings again in a new, larger East Cesar Chavez location – address and opening date to be announced. The dance club, known for its DIY aesthetic, inclusive ethos, and anti-establishment messaging, was forced to close its doors on East 12th in April 2025 when its landlord denied a lease renewal. Since then, owner and primary DJ Sean Daigle has kept the club’s cult following satiated with pop-up events at other establishments, but now says the bar will occupy even bigger digs, with a karaoke room and opportunities for community events like movie screenings and game nights.
Ramen Del Barrio, the adored Japanese Mexican izakaya spot, has expanded into a brick-and mortar-home at 2007 Kramer. Known for its carnitas tonkotsu and fusion tacos, Ramen Del Barrio’s culture-melding dishes garnered dedicated fans at Hana World Market for three years. After a multi-month stint of pop-ups and collaborations at other eateries, the restaurant has found stable ground in Northwest Austin. “I’m so excited to share the new shop with you guys,” chef and owner Christopher Krinsky said in an Instagram video. “All the ambience and decor that we wanted to have at Hanna is now here in this new home.” July 25’s opening day saw long lines and a packed house as eager patrons reunited with beloved dishes. Lines are expected to continue as the shop remains dine-in only for now, open Wednesday through Sunday from 11am to 3pm and 4pm to 10pm.
Monks Jazz Club is officially slingin’ drinks and sax in its new location at 310 E. St. Elmo, Unit A. Owner Collin Shook and general manager Leila Sunier have seen the intimate yet casual listening space through pop-ups, a BYOB spot on Pedernales, and a temporary home next door to the St. Elmo spot they now occupy. At last, the jazz and the booze are flowing smoothly and set to stay that way. “We’re really proud of how devoted our scene is to making sure that we get through to the next steps,” Sunier told the Chronicle in December 2025, when the pair were first pulling up stakes and preparing to move. “We’re really proud of all of our musicians and the work that they do and putting on shows every night. We’re really excited for this next chapter.”
Luv Fats Ice Cream ended its search for a secure scooping spot on July 29, when founder Chi Ndika welcomed customers to a new location at 4700 Loyola. Ndika’s avocado and coconut milk-based vegan ice cream became an Austin sweet treat staple on North Lamar. Over the past year, Ndika attracted new tastebuds at pop-up events and kept fans happy with pint orders while she readied the new Eastside spot for a grand opening. Try flavors like lavender cookies and cream, lemon cookie, and sugarcane and kumquat sorbet in the new pink-painted digs, open Wednesday through Sunday 1pm to 8pm.
