Start extending that five o’clock shadow now. This week there are two events celebrating the Fu Manchu in all of its backpacking glory.
First up, tonights Mo Stash Bash at the Independent at 501 Studios with Frantic Clam, the Sea, and Nic Armstrongs Ripe, among others. This event is actually part of a larger, nationwide celebration that, through partnership with LiveStrong, helps raise awareness about prostate and testicular cancer. Upping the ante on Saturday is the third annual Manfest at Birds Barbershop (1902 S. Congress Ave.), which is sure to get medieval in a manner that makes Al Bundys NO MAAM club look like mere childs play. This years festivities include a sweaty workout from the LCD Soundsystem cover band, All My Friends, along with something billed as Chiron the Centaur. Of course, mustaches aren’t required, but showing up clean shaven would be like bringing quarters to a strip club.
