NOLA bounce queen Big Freedia couldn’t make the opening of former Chronicle photographer Aubrey Edwards’ fantastic photo exhibit at SXSW this year. She’d dislocated her shoulder the night before, a testament to the ruckus she brings on and off stage.

She returned last night, and we all had figurative (and, for some, maybe literal) late-night makeup sex. Men and women were flashing more cheek than a baby beauty pageant and the bass-heavy, repetitive sound of NOLA bounce is the perfect azzzz provocateur.
