P.O.D.

Greatest Hits: The Atlantic Years (Rhino)

Capitalizing on corporate America’s born- and dead-again Christian clichés, Southtown’s P.O.D. mixed subversive spirituality, teen angst, and mainstream nü-metal for an ambiguous and generic sound suitable for both Young Life summer camps and the main stage at Ozzfest (alongside Crazy Town and Adema). The worst of both realms, The Atlantic Years summarizes the quartet’s brief time in MTV’s spotlight, ending with this year’s D.O.A. release Testify. The only thing missing are classic cuts from the band’s debut EP Snuff the Punk (that’s slang for Satan), like “Abortion Is Murder.”
