A new video from Austin blues, soul, and rock combustor Black Joe Lewis accompanies the unveiling of Austin FC 2022 gamedays. Filmed at Eastside venue Hotel Vegas, the clip features local soccer supporters decked out in their Verde best. Onstage, Lewis and his band the Honeybears revisit raucous, retro-styled 2017 track “Freakin’ Out.”
The video sounds the proverbial trumpet for what Austin FC fans have been waiting for ever since the first 2022 home game was announced back in November: the full 34-match schedule for the 2022 regular season. The lineup includes eight nationally televised matches and eight faceoffs with Eastern Conference clubs, a first for ATXFC, which only faced two Eastern Conference opponents in 2021’s pandemic-impacted season.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (12/17), 10am. According to Austin FC, ATXFC was the only MLS club to sell out all of its 2021 home matches, so you might want to drop the $50 required to enroll in the 2022 Waitlist Membership, which offers pre-sale access to single match tickets.
