Sunday Jazz Brunch, 11am-3pm, reservations suggested; check out music lineup at www.manuels.com

The festive jazz brunch at Manuel’s downtown location has long been one of our favorite Sunday hangouts, and now we understand that the suburban Northwest outlet with its soothing fountain and lovely patio has developed a loyal brunch crowd as well. That’s really no surprise when the meal starts with delicious Mango Daiquiris ($3.95) and Mexican Mimosas ($3.95) and proceeds to menu items in the $2.50-$8.95 range. Relax to the jazz stylings of artists such as Mitch Watkins, Tony Campise, Paul Glasse, or Susannah Sharpe while you make your menu selections. What will it be this week? Migas ($5.95) with fresh fruit, the unique Gorditas ($2.50) made with potatoes and filled with venison chorizo or an Omeletta ($6.75-$8.95) with a choice of filling such as chile con queso or lump crab? A perennial favorite is a big plate of Huevos Motulenos ($5.50), two fried eggs sandwiched between corn tortillas covered with a warm red salsa, peas, and cubes of ham. Based on our experience, you can’t go wrong here.
