Catellus Development announced today that the fast-growing local chain, Torchy’s Tacos, will open its 11th area outlet in the Mueller Market District in the summer of 2014.

The new store will be known as Torchy’s Tacos at Mueller and will be the first outlet in the chain to be created in a previously undeveloped space. Torchy’s owner Michael Rypka has made a great success of re-purposing existing restaurant spaces (Virginia’s Cafe, Wok-n-Roll, Chango’s South, etc.) into popular quick/casual taco joints. This new spot, however, will also be the largest and the first to offer full bar service.

Torchy’s at Mueller is slated for a large corner space with plenty of room indoors for a full bar serving what Rypka calls the Firewater menu: a rotating selection of local craft beers on tap, wine, margaritas, and custom cocktails. Outdoors, there will be a large, oak-shaded deck with a view of Bartholomew Park. Look for the restaurant to open in the summer of 2014.
