Lick screams for ice cream, Jacoby’s flips burgers, and more afternoon bites.
Tomorrow, July 7, The Townsend – in partnership with Diplomático Rum – will welcome superstar New Zealand bartender Sai Charan Hamsala for some lucky sevens. Starting at 7pm, four cocktails – including the 2015 Diplomático World Tournament winner Rich Heart – will be available for $7 each. There’s probably a joke about “four score and seven years” somewhere here, but we can’t think of it.
Shake Shack and Hops & Grain Brewery are teaming up once again for the Shack Sounds live music series at the Domain location. Starting Tuesday, July 12 with Shivery Shakes (totes apropes), the series will continue 7-8pm on the first Tuesday of every month through October.
Apis’ guest chef series is back in full swing in July. The special dinners give chefs de parties and sous chefs a chance to get top billing, and give diners the chance to get a fancy, multi-course dinner for a bargain price. (You can insert a celebratory “yassss”or “werkkk” here.) The team behind Apis (Mike St. Germaine, Abby Searles, Brian Edwards, Marcus McCreary, Brent Mills, Ronaldo Ramon, and Chris Sapp) kicks things off on Sunday, July 10. Matt Lester of Lenoir follows on July 17, James Dumapit of Uchiko leads the kitchen on July 24, and Alejandro Munoz and Trevor Musik of Counter 3. FIVE. VII take over on July 31. Space is limited for the dinners, so make reservations quickly.
To celebrate National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 17, Lick Honest Ice Creams will be donating 5% of shop proceeds to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas and of San Antonio. Throughout the month, the shops will be also accepting donations and providing scoops for families staying at the two RMHC locations. Oh, and the shops are also serving sundaes in July, which almost makes up for the latest Orange is the New Black season.
In other news of people doing nice stuff, Jacoby’s Restaurant and Mercantile will be donating a burger for every burger sold through the month of July to the Central Texas Food Bank.
