With the news this week that SXSW has cancelled its SouthBites Food Trailer Park, established in 2013, another food truck organizer seized the opportunity.

“SXSW originally created the SouthBites Trailer Park because of the limited options for a quick meal close to the Austin Convention Center. SouthBites also provided a great opportunity to highlight some amazing food trucks from around the country for the last several years. While we’ve enjoyed producing SouthBites, there are now food trucks prevalent throughout downtown, and there is no longer a demand to provide that service to SXSW registrants,” says Amy Wanke, SXSW Director of Global Sales.

She added, “The Austin Convention Center has been and will continue to provide some of those same food trucks on their property during the event. Even though the Trailer Park will no longer exist, SouthBites will continue to serve as the umbrella for all of our specialty dinner programming.”

Though not an official SXSW event, the first Taste the World Food Court will be stationed at 718 E. Sixth Street – in the parking lot located at the southbound I-35 access road and Sixth Street next to the Gatsby. The new concept comes from ATX Food Truck Fest owner/organizer David Poku.

“I developed this concept because I figured it would be great to represent what Austin is known for when people come from out of town,” says Poku. “I honestly believe if Austin wasn’t dubbed the live music capital it would be dubbed the food truck capital.”

For the duration of the SXSW conference (March 8-17), visitors can plan on experiencing live art, chair massages, and, of course, a global assortment of food offerings. Additional vendors are in the works, but as of publication, the confirmed list of participating food trucks includes:

Four Brothers – Venezuelan

Concession World – Mediterranean

Locals Neighborhood Grub – Texan

Kreyol Korner – Caribbean

Load A Bowl – International fusion

Ze Wurst – German

SeaFood Cajun Concessions – Cajun

Just Made Juice

Moonshine Sweet Tea
