Locals from the food and music industries can be found face first in pies in an effort to raise funds for their peers.
Holy Roller’s third annual Pie Eating Contest will be held at Rustic Tap, Tuesday, December 10. The event begins at 6pm and is all ages till 8pm.
Culinary experts and music industry champions duke it out, hands tied behind their backs, to see which individual can eat the most pie in a given amount of time.
Competitors include the Holy Roller herself Callie Speer, the Chronicle’s own Jessi Cape, Rustic Tap’s Brett Berry, and Ramen Tatsu-ya/Kemuri Tatsu-ya’s Shion Aikawa. Also demolishing desserts will be folk-rock musician Graham Wilkinson, Jägermeister trend and scene manager Nate Laird, Comedor Executive Chef Gabe Erales, travel and food blogger Rachel Holtin, and Red River Cultural District’s Executive Director Cody Cowan. The SIMS Foundation’s Patsy Bouressa and pro BMX rider Aaron Ross will also be joining in on the fun.
The audience has the opportunity to place bets on who they believe will win the contest, and the ones who chose correctly receive prizes from local businesses. Raffle tickets are one for $5 or 20 for $90, and a $5 donation is suggested at the door.
The competition benefits HEARD, who provides wellness and mental health services to those in the food and beverage industry; and SIMS Foundation, providing mental health and substance use recovery for musicians and music industry professionals in Central Texas.
