We are sure that most of you are passionate about food. At least three of you are currently throwing a spatchcocked duck in your backyard wood-burning oven, to be served with a watermelon and dehydrated olive salad and homemade Valdeón. To you three, we say stop getting all goopy with Gwenyth Paltrow. We have something to say.

This Saturday, August 29 (10am-6pm), the MasterChef judges will be at the Downtown Residence Inn (300 E. Fourth) to cast for the new season. The cooking competition, judged by Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliott, and Christina Tosi, pits home cooks against each other in bloody combat for the chance to publish their own cookbook, win a shiny trophy and lots of cash, and have a lifetime of people saying “hey, I know you” at bars.

Think you have what it takes? We suggest you invite your most discerning friends to give you feedback on the dish you plan to present to the judges. (We will also accept invitations.) Remember, you will only be given three minutes to plate your dish at the casting call and there will not be a kitchen to cook or warm your dish. So maybe that turducken shepherd’s pie isn’t really the best choice.

Full details are available online. Happy cooking and good luck.
