You love to see it: the “new school” barbecue truck LeRoy and Lewis (led by Evan LeRoy and Sawyer Lewis with their team) is expanding into its own restaurant-bar and private event space in South Austin later this year.

The barbecue truck, which sources ingredients locally and sustainably, has dispensed the most tantalizing beef cheeks, barbacoa, pulled pork, and sausage from its seasonally changing menu from the Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden lot since 2017, not to mention being a three-time First Plates winner. That isn’t all: LeRoy and Lewis have been busy selling their own spice mixes and rubs and running an instructive Patreon sharing their wealth of barbecue knowledge to subscribers.

The new space will combine all these elements and expand on what is currently offered at the truck, along with showcasing the team’s commitment to local and responsible sourcing, plus an emphasis on butchery and whole-animal utilization. There will also be additional sides and brand-new desserts, easy-drinking wines that pair well with barbecue but are also ideal to grab for an evening at home, and beer ranging from local craft options to low-ABV sippers.

The new bar-restaurant will include an adjacent retail space, which will offer the aforementioned spice mixes and rubs, beer, and wine. Barbecue fans will also be able to pick up their large pre-orders in the retail space. Behind the design are creative partners OPA Design Studio, Helms Workshop, and McCray & Co. The resto-bar/retail concept is located off Stassney Lane at 5621 Emerald Forest Dr.; look for it to open sometime in late 2023.
