Home to Austin Chronicle readers’ favorite burger of 2022, Austin’s most provocatively named burger joint, JewBoy Burgers, opens its fourth location in the Fareground food hall on Monday, April 24.
This location is an expansion of the JewBoy Sliders concept, offering up “classic sliders with a Jewish twist.” The menu will offer a variety of two-bite burgers (results may vary), including Western sliders with bbq sauce, pepperjack cheese, and fried onion strings; American sliders with smoky aioli and pickles; a vegetarian falafel slider that can be made vegan; pastrami and a very delicious smoked turkey and cheddar, along with others.
Sides will include soups, chips, a snappy macaroni salad with crunchy pickled veggies and a little bit of heat, and mini latkes. According to founder and owner Mo Pittle, a two-slider combo with a side and a drink will cost $15.
Pittle wants to cultivate a lunch counter vibe in the space previously occupied by TLV (the Emmer & Rye Israeli concept exited Fareground in mid-March of this year). “I always grew up loving that lunch counter vibe,” he says. Those who’ve visited other JewBoy locations, particularly JewBoy Sub Shop, will recognize the signature jars of saltwater taffy.
“We offer comfort food with a cultural twist,” says Pittle. “This is a chance to celebrate the things that I love, and opportunity to open up to a new demographic. Downtown and urban living is something Austin is evolving into, I want to be a part of it.”
JewBoy Sliders at Fareground will be open daily from 11am-9pm.
