“A cup of joe when we need it most” is Hope Coffee Collaborative’s tagline, and it couldn’t be more true – cases of COVID-19 in Texas have spiked since reopening, and many (including healthcare workers) are still suffering from lack of resources.
Hope Coffee Collaborative set out to help by delivering unique coffee blends to your door and donating all profits to pandemic relief organizations in Texas.
Jake Sussman of Madrone Mountain Coffee in Liberty Hill teamed up with two other local coffee roasters to create Hope Coffee Collaborative. “The project is a collaboration between roasters where we each donate and roast coffee to comprise a unique ‘hope’ blend. All proceeds from the blend are donated to local pandemic relief organizations,” Sussman said.
Joining Madrone Mountain Coffee are Red Light Coffee Roasters in Galveston and Little Dreamer Coffee of Houston. Each blend’s proceeds will go to a different relief organization to benefit Texans during the pandemic. Right now all proceeds go to Texas N95 Covers Initiative, a group that sews covers for N95 masks for healthcare workers in Texas. As a bonus and a thank you, all mask sewing volunteers got free coffee, as well. When it comes time to roast again, the roasters will get together and decide on the next charity to donate to. “It works well because we can donate funds to organizations that are most in need or closest to the roasters involved. Because the roasters will rotate, so will the charities,” said Sussman.
While supplies last, each bag of beans purchased comes with a free mask.
