The owner of healthy fast-casual restaurant Honest Mary’s, Nelson Monteith, confirmed today that their second location will open in the 4800 block of Burnet Road around October 2019.
After seeing the customer base at his original location on Great Hills Trail continue to grow at a rapid pace, Monteith said he and his team decided it was time to expand. Honest Mary’s, named for Monteith’s wife, focuses on hand-prepared grain bowls, using whole ingredients (local and organic from regional vendors). Choose from one of their signature bowls or build your own custom meal: Select a protein plus a leafy green or whole grain base, pile on the veggie sides and toppings, and finish with a sauce. Options include just about any seasonal market vegetables, baked tofu, tuna poke, wild arugula, black forbidden rice, toasted cashews, tahini citrus miso, and much more. They’ve also got local brews (kombucha, beer) and house aguas frescas.
While the concept, style, and menu will be very similar to the first restaurant, said Monteith, the space will “definitely be different” as they hope to specifically design each new location to “fit the neighborhood.” He left open the possibility of more Honest Mary’s locations, though he could not reveal any specifics. The new addition to Rosedale Village (also home to Fluff Meringues and Ritual Salon; across the street from Pinthouse Pizza and Picnik) will boast a “cool outdoor patio” and plenty of curb appeal.
