After years of planning, Home Slice Pizza has finally begun construction on a second location in North Central Austin. The local pizzeria is set to start tossing pies in late fall of 2017, on the corner of North Loop and Duval at 501 E. 53rd.
The North Loop location will include the same features of the original Home Slice and More Home Slice annex on South Congress, consisting of full service dine-in, takeout, patio seating, and indoor and outdoor bar seating. More space at the North Loop location, however, will allow for the addition of a full bar, expanded menu options, and twice the on-site parking.
The full bar will feature a cocktail program of carefully chosen vermouths, amari, and other spirits to highlight old-school classics like the Manhattan, Boulevardier, Harvey Wallbanger, and Rusty Nail.
In addition to cocktails, the draft beer offerings at the North Loop location will expand to meet the recent explosion of Austin’s craft beer scene, and wine options will continue to be affordable Italian boutique wines sold by the glass, bottle, and carafe.
As for the menu, Home Slice plans to offer Buffalo wings exclusively at the North Loop location. A standard at pizzerias in the Northeast, the Buffalo wings will fit right in alongside Home Slice’s New York-style pies. The original Home Slice’s specialty Sicilian square pie, currently only available on Mondays and Thursdays, will also be offered seven days a week at the North Loop location.
