Both locations of Santa Rita Tex-Mex Cantina (1206 W. 38th; 419-7482 and 5900 Slaughter #550; 288-5100) are offering two varieties of tamales until Dec. 24. Each variety of tasty tamale comes with its own delicious sauce and orders of dozens to go should be placed 48 hours in advance.

Quality tamale making at home may be a dying art, but the cooks at Santa Rita are keeping the holiday tradition alive. They’re busy making tasty handmade tamales filled with toothsome rotisserie chicken paired with tangy, roasted tomatillo sauce and shredded pork tamales paired with Santa Rita’s signature Tex-Mex chili sauce. Order them hot to eat in the restaurant or to take home (3 for $7.95 at lunch; 3 for $9.95 at dinner) or get ’em by the dozen ($16 a dozen with 16oz sauce) and fill up the freezer for the holidays.
