For those of you who like to plan your drinking well in advance, we have a few renderings of Backbeat from cocktail couple Jessica and Michael Sanders. Jamie Chioco of Chioco Designs helped the pair design a space featuring a subtly jet set cocktail lounge on the ground level and a shaded upper deck peering into Downtown.

In a press release, the Sanders said (probably in unison like the twins in The Shining), “We worked with Jamie Chioco and team to develop a concept that maintains the feeling of a neighborhood bar while creating a seamless flow for the staff that will ultimately translate for speedy, efficient service for the guest,” said the Sanders. “A guest can have at least three different experiences across multiple visits or within the same night. Bar spaces should feel cozy, relaxed and fun regardless of their size and the collaboration with Jamie’s team has certainly allowed us to craft a space in that spirit. There’s wonderful light and energy throughout the building, which we hope equally translates to other touch points to the guest – from the menu design to the cocktails to the energy of the staff.”

The space at 1300 S. Lamar Blvd. is expected to open in March 2016.
