There are plenty of great pies within the Austin city limits, but sometimes we like to take a day trip. Cafes and pie shops all over Central Texas are justifiably famous for their holiday treats. The Chronicle food staff will not rest until we try all of them.

Monument Market (1953 S. Austin. in Georgetown, 512/240-4715; www.themonumentcafe.com) Check pie list on the web and order online by Friday, Nov. 21 for pickup at the Market through Nov. 26.

Texas Pie Company (212 W. Center in Kyle, 512/268-5885; www.texaspiecompany.com) Pre-order pies by Friday, Nov. 21 for pickup in the store through Nov. 26.

Wimberley Pie Company (13619 RR 12 in Wimberley, 512/847-8462; www.wimberleypie.com) Pre-order pies by Thursday, Nov. 20 for pick-up in the store through Nov. 26.

Royer’s Round Top Cafe (105 Main in Round Top, 979/249-3611; www.royersroundtopcafe.com) Pre-order pies for pickup at the cafe between 11am-6pm on Nov. 26 or order online or at 877/866-PIES for shipping all over the world.

Bluebonnet Cafe (211 US Hwy 281 in Marble Falls, 830/693-2344; www.bluebonnetcafe.net) For Thanksgiving, we should have pre-ordered pies by Thursday, Nov. 13, but we are not above begging. And if that doesn’t work, there’s always one of their great pie-themed t-shirts.
