• Austin runners know the best way to work up a healthy holiday appetite is to enter the annual ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Proceeds from the big race benefit Caritas of Austin. The race starts at 9:30am in Waterloo Park, and entrants can choose to run five miles, one mile, or the Stepping Stone School Kids K. • The weekend after Thanksgiving is always the occasion for the Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade benefiting Operation Blue Santa. The festive parade features giant cartoon balloons, plenty of floats, marching bands, and an appearance by Santa himself! Line up along the new parade route from the Capitol down Congress Avenue to Cesar Chavez, and be sure to bring a toy for the kids to donate to Blue Santa. More details at www.chuysparade.com.
